Message from President

Dear Colleagues, Members, and Visitors,

Welcome to the official digital platform of the Nepal Radiologists' Association (NRA). As we navigate an era of rapid technological evolution and expanding clinical responsibilities, our association remains firmly dedicated to two foundational pillars: elevating the standards of patient care and championing robust professional advocacy for medical imaging specialists across Nepal.

Elevating Patient Care and Safety
Radiology is the bedrock of modern clinical decision-making. A precise, timely diagnosis is vital to defining effective treatment pathways and saving lives. For this reason, patient safety and the ethical delivery of diagnostic imaging services are our highest priorities.
We are fully committed to ensuring that every individual in Nepal receives the highest standard of radiological care. This involves promoting advanced radiation protection, ensuring absolute diagnostic accuracy, and optimizing imaging protocols across all federal and provincial healthcare facilities. Our patient-centric approach ensures that we do not merely look at scans; we look after the people behind them.

Safeguarding the Profession Through Advocacy
True clinical excellence cannot exist without strong professional safeguards. The NRA stands firm in its advocacy to preserve the integrity of our specialized field. We actively demand strict, unconditional compliance with the Nepal Medical Council Act and prevailing national laws, stipulating that only qualified, registered medical doctors are legally authorized to provide modern medical and radiological services. Protecting our patients from the serious risks posed by unqualified practitioners is an immediate, collective necessity.

Furthermore, we are consistently lobbying the Ministry of Health and Population to establish institutional advancements, such as a National Radiology and Imaging Centre, and to guarantee appropriate radiation allowances and career progression tracks for imaging specialists across all tiers of public and private healthcare.

A Future Built on Collaboration and Knowledge
Our vision for the future relies heavily on professional unity and continuous development. Through strategic milestones—such as our historic collaboration with radiography professionals to build strong, multidisciplinary teams, and hosting high-level regional forums like RADCON 2026—the NRA is expanding Nepal’s presence on the global healthcare stage.

We encourage all our senior specialists to mentor the next generation, and we invite our young residents and members to actively engage with our academic initiatives, research programs, and the Nepalese Journal of Radiology. Together, we will continue to foster a transparent, scientifically progressive, and legally protected environment that honors our past while securing a healthier future for Nepal.

A Commitment to Our Collective Future: Lifetime Membership
The true strength of our association lies in the enduring commitment of its professionals. I strongly encourage all practicing radiologists and eligible imaging specialists across the country to take up Lifetime Membership with the NRA.
Choosing a lifetime membership is more than an administrative step; it is a permanent investment in the collective voice of our fraternity. Your lifelong partnership strengthens our advocacy frameworks, provides vital baseline support for our educational and scientific initiatives, and ensures that the NRA remains a formidable, independent shield protecting your professional rights for decades to come. Let us solidify our bond today to secure a progressive, legally protected, and clinically superior future for radiology in Nepal.
In solidarity and service,

Dr. Tejendra Karki
